Blizzard
Players Help Fight Cancer October
25, 2008
Bald
is beautiful. Just ask the players of the OCN Blizzard. Next Thursday
(Oct. 30) at Murray Dunn GM in The Pas, players will lose their curly
locks, participating in the Cut for Cancer event.
Meanwhile, fans can take part in the action financially. This weekend
at Gordon Lathlin Memorial Arena, donations will be accepted as the
Blizzard take on Winnipeg Saints in a back-to-back series.
“I'm very proud of our guys,“ Blizzard GM/head coach Doug
Hedley says of the Cut for Cancer. “They decided to take the
initiative to do something for cancer after seeing the response on
hockey night in Canada. They approached our staff who in turn approached
a major supporter and it took off from there.“
As far as the future of Hedley's hair, the veteran coach remains non
committal.
CJ 1240 will be promoting the event, with hopes that fans will dig
into their wallets and assist in the fight against cancer.Jeremy Wachal,
Operations Manager at CJ 1240 says the unique event demonstrates the
strong character of the Blizzard players, who are willing to sacrifice
their hair in the battle against cancer.
