| Aime & Warkentin Recognized By MJHL | |
|
There were not a whole lot of bright spots around the Blizzard this year but the play of David Aime and Dale Warkentin is something to be proud of.The MJHL announced yesterday that Aime is a finalist for goaltender of the year and league MVP. It would be an absolute farce if Aime does not win at least one of those awards, likely the top goaltender. By no means are the other 2 goalies, Peter Alexander of Winkler and Joey Rewucki of Selkirk not deserving, but Aime is the best and had a lot less offensive talent in front of him than the other 2. It might be a little tougher for Aime to win league MVP over Steven Shamanski of Dauphin or Taylor Dickin from Selkirk. But if you look at which team would be worse off without their guy, it would be the Blizzard hands down. If Aime gets MVP it would be a no-brainer he gets top goalie. Warkentin meanwhile really evolved into a complete defenseman this season adding a more gritty edge to his play and is more than deserving of being named top d-man. This battle will be a little tougher though as both Shamanski and Portage's Zach Tully are 2 mighty fine defensemen. Two good players are gonna be disappointed in this category. More accolades have also been given to Aime and Warkentin as it was announced Wednesday morning the 2 have been named to the MJHL's 1st All-Star Team. Way to go Dave and Dale!!! -Smalley- |
