Summers Signs With Laredo
The OCN Blizzard have announced that graduating forward Matt Summers has signed a professional contract with the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League.

Summers, 20, led the Blizzard in scoring during the 2006-2007 season with 50 goals and 69 assists for 119 points in playing all 63 games with the team. His 50 goals were good enough for third in the MJHL, while his 119 points were fifth in league scoring.

Over his junior career, Summers played three full seasons and part of a fourth with OCN, beginning with the 2003-2004 season. He left the team partway through the 2004-2005 season to go to Green Bay of the United States Hockey League, but returned to the Blizzard for the 2005-2006 campaign. The product of Savage, Minn. played in 195 career games in the MJHL, scoring 105 goals and adding 180 assists for 285 career points.

Summers played in 18 playoff games in the 2004 and 2006 MJHL post-seasons, helping the Blizzard win the Sher-Wood Division title in 2006. He had nine goals and 22 career playoff points.

“He’s part of what we’re looking at to establish in our organization for 18-year-olds.”
