Blizzard defeat Natives 8-1 on Road

The OCN Blizzard continue their 4 games in 5 nights road trip with a Saturday night rematch with the Neepawa Natives, defeating the Natives 8-1 in at Yellowhead Center.

Saturday night was the second match-up between the Blizzard and Natives this weekend.

There were plenty of bright spots in the team’s win tonight; Center Jeremy Dumont had his first MJHL hat trick since joining the Blizzard as well as big point nights for Harland, Muir and Barron each earning 3 points on the night.  Blizzard recorded 53 shots on Goaltender Pierce.

The Blizzard controlled the match from the opening puck drop and lit the lamp twice in the first period, when Dumont scored his first of three on the night.  Harland followed up scoring which on a nice passing play from Dumont and Muir.
Heading into the second period the Blizzard were focused to maintain the game plan.  Early in the period, a quick goal by Barron created by the hard work of Hiebert opened the floodgates and the Blizzard scored three more times to give themselves a 6-0 advantage going into the final intermission. With Brendan Barron burying the first of the period and Dumont and Harland getting their second goals of the game.  Keeper closed up scoring with a power play goal to finish the second period with the Blizzard earing 4 goals.

In the final period, the Blizzard scored two more times with Dumont started the period as he pots his first hat trick in a Blizzard uniform.  Shane Roulette followed up by ripping one past the Native’s goalie Pierce, assists going to Hiebert and Barron.  

Goaltender Boily continues to display his elite skills having an outstanding night between the pipes as he turned away 31 shots.

The Blizzard continue on the road with a match up with the Winkler Flyers tonight in Winkler.  Next home action for the OCN Blizzard is Friday, October 16th vs the Neepawa Native.
