Saturday Dauphin Kings-0 @ OCN Blizzard-3

The Blizzard came out firing in the first period, controlling the pace and were able to beat Dauphin Goaltender Tanner Douglas midway through the frame. Tavis Roch would get a shot through on the rush and flip his own rebound over Douglas for the first Blizzard goal of the season. Later in the frame, OCN would strike again. Justin Nachbaur would score his first MJHL goal on a great pass from Anthony Keeper out of the corner. OCN would take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period the game would stand still. OCN got into penalty trouble, but thanks to a solid penalty kill, they would end the period unscathed. 2-0 OCN still after 2 periods.

In the third period it was the Blizzard who would get a man advantage, a two man advantage at that, and on the 5 on 3 Brady Keeper would hammer a point shot by Douglas giving OCN the 3-0 lead. Dauphin would come up with some chances late but Emilien Boily would stand on his head and earn the 26 save shutout in a 3-0 Blizzard win.

Sunday Waywayseecapo Wolverines-3 @ OCN Blizzard-4

The following afternoon the Waywayseecappo Wolverines would make the trek north to face the Blizzard. In the first period, a similar story to the previous night, OCN came out early and it was Brayden Dale scoring his first MJHL goal tucking one home under Wayway goalie Landon Poiron. The Wolverines would answer back scoring twice, Ty Enns and Hank Bouchard would beat Blizzard Goalie Brett Epp giving Wayway the 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

In the second, OCN would take back over as Rylan Bartley would score his first MJHL goal tucking home the garbage tying the game at 2 with 5 minutes left in the period. Shortly after that Daylon Campbell’s shot would sneak by the Brady Keeper screen finding the back of the net. 3-2 Blizzard after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Layne Anderson would tie the game at 3 with a Wayway Power Play goal just 4 minutes in. At 5:59 of the third, OCN takes back the lead putting the game to bed as Jeremy Dumont tips home a point shot changing directions beating Poiron.  Wayway had some late chances but a penalty with 2 minutes left in the contest made it difficult to find the tying goal as OCN would roll to the 4-3 win.
