OT Fall to Wayway, Virden Tonight

11/08/2016, 2:45pm CST
By admin

The OCN Blizzard fell in a shootout last night to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 4-3. The Blizzard have had trouble with the Wolverines over the past few years, especially in Waywayseecappo.

The first period saw the Wolverines out play the Blizzard, score two early goals and take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The second was by far the best period from the Blizzard as Brayden Dale would get the Blizzard on the board cutting the lead down to 2-1. OCN got an early point shot from Tavis Roch the snuck through traffic. Dale was able to put home the rebound out stretching the Wayway goaltender to the right post tucking the puck into the corner. The Blizzard would then tie the game on a Brady Keeper point shot. Victor Knaub sat in front of the net putting a screen on the goaltender. OCN would then take a 3-2 lead late in the second as George King got a great pass flying through the middle of the ice from Adam Heinemann. King did the rest beating two Wayway skaters sliding the puck into the net.

OCN’s 3-2 lead would hold until the 12:00 minute mark on the third. On an outside shot the Wolverines got a puck through Blizzard goalie Emilien Boily.

Off to overtime, Wayway would out chance the Blizzard in the 5 minute extra frame thanks to a powerplay. But it would ultimately solve nothing. Boily shut the door and sent the game into the shootout.

In the shootout Landyn Cochrane would score first for Wayway, and OCN just couldn’t beat Wayway goalie McKenzie Cochrane. OCN now moves to 13-3-3 heading into a road game with Virden tonight.
