By admin

The OCN Blizzard are on the road this weekend to play their final 2 regular season games. Tonight OCN travels to Selkirk for a meeting that has big playoff implications on the line.  (Read more...)

With a win OCN will pull tied with Selkirk for 3rd place with a game at hand, the only one remaining. While at the same time guaranteeing themselves a spot in the top 4 and home ice advantage in the first round. A loss tonight for OCN would put them in the 4v5 matchup and a date with the Portage Terriers, home ice to be determined in the final game of the season tomorrow.

For the OCN Blizzard and Selkirk Steelers, the two have played each other extremely tight this season with the Steelers holding the head to head advantage, 3 wins to 2. In the most recent matchup the Steelers went into OCN and played a textbook 60 minute game escaping with a 2-0 road win. Only one of 6 losses for OCN on home ice this season.  Over 5 meetings Selkirk has scored 15 goals while OCN has just 12.

The Blizzard come into tonight’s game having dropped their most recent decision, 4-1 to Virden, but are the hottest team in the MJHL over the past month and a half. The Blizzard are 12-2 in that stretch. They’ve been led between the pipes by Brett Epp, He went 6-1 in February with a 2.00 GAA and a .932 save percentage, to go along with the MJHL goaltender of the month title.

For Selkirk, they’re coming off a huge 10-4 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Tuesday night, and like OCN went 8-2 in the month of February. Carter Barley has been great for the Steelers as over the month of February he racked up 11 points to go along with the title of MJHL Rookie of the month. The 17-year old forward now has 27 points in 53 games.
