The OCN Blizzard have added depth up front, acquiring 5’9”, 190 lbs 1996-born forward, Braedan Cross from the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
Cross, a native of Sechelt, BC, comes to the Blizzard with experience from a few different junior programs across Canada. He spent the majority of his time with the Kerry Park Islanders of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) before moving east to join the Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL.
While playing a key role in Kerry Park, he put up good numbers during his first two seasons but really exploded offensively in his last season with the Islanders, putting up 26G-35A-61PTS-72 PIM in 48 games.
In total in Braedan’s three seasons in the VIJHL, he had 115GP-47G-86A-133PTS-177PIM. In the season when he was 18, he spent a short time with the Trail Smoke Eaters, where he scored 2G-4A-6PTS in 15 British Columbia Junior Hockey League games.
In the 20 games this season with the Nipawin Hawks, Braedan has accumulated 3G-4A-7PTS-20PIM.
Coach Smith commented, “We are very pleased to add another quality player and character to our hockey club. Braedan will be a great addition to the dressing room and add speed and grit to the Blizzard forwards.”
The Blizzard would like to welcome Braedan to the organization and to the communities of OCN and The Pas.
Come out and see Braedan and the rest of the OCN Blizzard in action this weekend as the Blizzard take on the league leading Portage Terriers. Puck drop is at 7:00 pm for both for Friday and Saturday’s matches.
