OCN BLIZZARD-Family Fishing Derby a HUGE Success
The OCN Blizzard hosted a Family Fishing derby on Sunday January 26th on the Saskatchewan River in The Pas, Manitoba. Registration opened for derby attendees at 10:30 AM, as the derby was set to begin at 12 noon.
Early bird catches the fish! People walked down to the derby site and selected their holes as they registered, with 10 minutes left the count down was on!
The first fish was caught within the first 5 minutes by a 12 year old girl from The Pas, followed by the second fish not even 2 minutes later.
The derby (78 participants) saw over 50 fish caught over the 3 hours, and Harvey Bignell (Youth Category) caught 10 fish himself. A variety of prizes were awarded to derby participants:
- Oldest Fisherman- Mr. Dosza
- Youngest Fisherman- 4.5 Month old baby Fenner
- Smallest Fish Caught- B. Personius
- Door Prize- R. O’Toole (Season Ticket winner)
Prize Categories included the following:
Biggest Jackfish- Danick Rodrigue
Biggest Walleye- Jackie Hather
Biggest Jackfish- Harvey Bignell
Biggest Walleye- Laz Constant
